Too Many Clouds

Too Many Clouds

These cloudy days are beginning to get on my nerves. I realize that I could never live in Seattle or Vancouver because it would just rain all the time and I would get depressed alot. New York has been like this since the beginning of the week and it’s only been four days and I can’t take it anymore.

But, on a brighter note, I will be playing with best pal Jacob Sacks and my great friend Judith Berkson at the 5C Cafe tomorrow as part of the Restless Spirit Music Series. It also happens to be Canada Day and for all those North folk (me included) I hope will be doing a little celebrating of their own. I will be performing some Canadian folk songs at the gig and they are really cool so I hope to see you and share in Canada Day and the music.

Good Music

Good Music

Last night was filled with great music. I went to the Downtown Music Gallery (one of the greatest cd, record stores in town!) to see my friends play in the store. The line up was Chris Mannigan (alto sax), Michael Bates (bass) and Todd Neufeld (guitar). It was just under an hour set and they played original music and a free piece (all you non-musicians out there, that means a free improvisation-no music written). The Downtown Music Gallery is a great place to find rare recordings and some of the best avant garde jazz you could ever find. I will be performing there sometime in October, so come and check out the store and the show.

After the DMG, I went to Barbes to hear my friend Judith Berkson do her solo show. I got to hear some songs that were new, a Schumman leider, a song from the Jewish liturgy that is sung in the synagogues, a Turkish piece and a great version of “Some Enchanted Evening”. Judith was inspiring, tender and powerful in all her pieces and I really enjoyed listening to her.

Overall, it was a great night and I got to do it all in under a $10 bugdet which is awesome!

Judith Berkson at Barbes Tonight

Judith Berkson at Barbes Tonight

Tonight my dear friend and amazing vocalist, Judith Berkson (she is our guest for the Restless Spirit Music Series #4 on July 1st), is doing a solo show tonight at Barbes. The show starts at 7:00pm and goes till 9:00pm. Judith will be performing a great variety of music like Schoenberg, her original compositions, Greek music and Jewish music from the synagogue.
I’ll see you there.

Restless Spirit #4 Coming Soon

Restless Spirit #4 Coming Soon

This Friday, July 1st will be the next Restless Spirit Music Series with yours truly and Jacob Sacks (greatest pianist living) and our special guest and dear friend, vocalist Judith Berkson.

We start at 7:00pm and we are at the 5C Cafe in the East Village (68 Ave C at the corner of 5th Street). So for all you NYC residents, if you are free, we would love to see you out there supporting live music (because live music is one of the greatest things one can experience in life, in my humble opinion).

Hope to see ya.

4inObjects’ Photos

4inObjects’ Photos

Last night I just got the first 4inObjects promo photo. I was very excited to see that we all don’t look too dopey. We’re gettin’ started on our website and working on releasing our debut CD so keep your eyes and ears open for some updates.

What am I doing?

What am I doing?

So I’ve come to realize that I put too much pressure on myself to write a post. As one can see, the last post was almost a month ago. I want to talk about stuff and it just seems like too much to talk about (so silly, I know). Well, I’ve decided to just write smaller posts and see what happens.
And that’s all for now.
