Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Well it’s hard to believe that it’s 2006. The past year went by so fast that I can’t even reflect on what’s happened. It’s like a systems overload for me (can’t….pro–cess…infor–ma-tion…)

I do know that 2006 is going to be an exciting year. I can feel it in my bones. For one thing, 4inObjects will be releasing their debut CD in February and the CD Pre-release party will be happening at the 55 Bar on January 29th (so mark your calendars). I’ve been totally freaking out because we just got our design and we need to send everything in for manufacturing and we are coming down to the wire. Sooooo stressful! I’m so excited though. The design looks totally cool – something I had not expected but that I really dig.

Jacob Sacks and I are going into the studio in early spring to record the next duo CD. I can barely contain myself when I think about what we’re going to record. I’ve been wanting to do this project for a while and it’s now going to come to life. I don’t want to give anything away about the project for now, but I’ll be writing about it soon.

The Restless Spirit Music Series of 2006 will commence in February and we will be having our friend and fellow 4inObjects member Jacob Garchik be our guest to open up the season.

The IAJE is coming in a couple of weeks and I will be attending this year as part of an organization called the JZVOC. I have mixed feeling about the IAJE and sometimes it just annoys me. But I do know that it is an event in which you get to meet hundreds of people that are related to your field. One good thing about it is that I will see some of my friends and colleagues from Toronto who will be attending the conference too.

This year I will be starting up a new project. I’ve been thinking about it for the past year and I think its time to make it come to life. It will be a quartet with no drums and the instrumentation will be bass/guitar, piano/melodica, trombone/tuba and voice. Why all the slashes? Well, each musician can play both and depending on the venue and other factors, we will switch it around. If we can’t get a real piano, we will go to melodica and guitar and tuba; you get what I mean.

The new year has started out well, I’ve started to get back on a regular exercise routine. I hope to make it stick. I haven’t written up any new resolutions. All I know is that I want to be a better person. I know that’s broad but it’s always the goal and all I can do is keep trying.

Cheers to everyone and I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year!
